A major milestone for our team: the Official Launch of the Nojumi platform. We set out to build an all-in-one solution that truly supports law firms. With this release, we successfully integrated our core Practice Management suite with Grounded AI, full-scale accounting, and native messaging into a single, unified workspace for the legal community.
Our History
The first beta version of the comprehensive Nojumi practice management suite was officially released. As external law firms began signing up for the platform, our initial clients, who were already using Nojumi’s early modules, were eager to try the new system and quickly joined the migration queue.
We launched targeted pay-per-use add-ons for private mortgage, with our early slogan being “Private Mortgage Automation for Lawyers”. Later, we released real estate and corporate add-ons, and continue to add support for more practice areas.
We established a comprehensive new architecture tailored specifically for a scalable SaaS environment. This pivotal restructuring allowed our complex legal workflows to operate smoothly in the background, setting a strong technical foundation for our upcoming public software releases.
After successfully serving close to 20,000 clients, we realized the software’s broader potential. Legal professionals requested access to our platform, and we pivoted our strategy to rebuild the system into a robust, server-backed SaaS product.
When the pandemic struck, our software became a crucial asset for remote operations. Driven to give back, our team, with the help of several students, leveraged the platform to launch a frontline initiative, building and providing over 600+ free wills and Powers of Attorney exclusively for healthcare workers, totalling over $1M in free legal work.
Our first fully developed product was deployed internally, allowing us to replace third-party tools like Clio and Will Builder. This proprietary software fueled significant growth for the law firm, Lexpand, enabling us to provide highly competitive market pricing.
We decided to evolve our scattered scripts into a cohesive product with a dedicated architecture. Supported by scientific research grants, our team held weekly Saturday meetings, generating over 20,000 pages of notes on user pain points to iteratively test and refine our solutions.
To scale these early successes, Behrouz partnered with his professor at York University to suggest their best students for his goal of automating the processes of a lawyer. They transitioned the codebase to Java and built interconnected workflows, moving data from automated forms directly into emails to replace manual legal work.
Our journey began with scattered automations to streamline daily tasks. By developing custom MS Word scripts that connect directly to Excel, we transformed standard spreadsheets into dynamic forms that capture and process critical information efficiently.
